1909 - First Miraculous Speaking in Tongues Since A.D. 30?

1909 - In Pentecostal history, the first group outbreak of the charismatic gift of tongues occurred in Los Angeles under the leadership of black evangelist William J. Seymour, 38. It marked the beginning of the three-year-long "Azusa Street Revival."

I believe that tongues in the New Testament are simply languages of men, though formerly foreign to the speaker; thus not gibberish understandable by God alone. In addition, I believe that the Holy Spirit's provision of miraculous abilities, including tongues, ended in the First Century. If you disagree, what is the Scriptural support for your beliefs?
