The Daily Bible
I like The Daily Bible
with Commentary by F. LaGard Smith. (The Bible only comes in the New Internaational Version - "NIV"). I own two of the Bibles. I keep one copy at the house, and one near my desk at work. I have purchased numerous copies for friends and family, and have donated copies to our local Kiwanis Club radio auctions in the past. The Bible rearranges the text into chronological order with 365 daily readings. Each page contains a date of the year so you no where to begin. There is very little "Commentary," and I have noticed nothing that I take issue with or find objectionable.
I like how the Bible does not repeat parallel passages, but does provide a cross reference to the parallel passages so you can look them up on your own.
The Bible also contains the following features:
- A Daily Reading Schedule that correlates dasy of the year with pages. I have never felt the need to use this because the dates are prominently displayed at the top of each page of the Bible.
- A Table of Contents for the Old and New Testaments presented in an outline format with approximate dates per section within each Testament period. Again, I haven't used this feature because more precise dates are included throughout the text of the Bible.
- A Chronology of Significant Events with dates (I have found this useful); and
- A Cross-Reference Index that cross references each verse of the Bible to the page within this Bible.
